Wired Airports

It's interesting, the wide range of on-line ability (or non-ability, as the case may be) that can be found in the nation's airports. I was pleased to discover these seats at Norman Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) at the gate waiting area.

They provide two three-prong plugs and a USB connection apiece so you can power up your iPad or tablet or laptop while waiting for your flight.

That preserves your battery power. Also, SJC offers free WiFi, which is nice.

Here's how I grade my HNL-OGG-SJC roundtrip WiFi experience:
  • Honolulu International Airport (HNL): WiFi is available, but you have to pay. Grade: C.
  • Kahului Airport (OGG): No WiFi is available. Grade: F.
  • San Jose Mineta Airport (SJC): WiFi is available, it's free and instant connecting. Downloads are fast. Grade: A+.
So now you know.
