Hawaiian Airlines First Class, OGG-SJC

Well, all rightie then. We flew from Maui to San Jose on upgraded first-class seats. That was a plus on our trip.

Except that ... the first-class seats in the Boeing 767 aren't terribly comfortable for me. That is to say, they aren't wide enough. My butt ain't the smallest in the world, and so I fit more or less snugly when I'd refer more wiggle room. Y'know, so I can shift to the left cheek, then the right cheek, when the time is right.

Nice seat controls, by the way ... easy to see, understand, read, and manipulate, not like the ones that are halfway hidden on the inside of the seat arms.

The other thing is that, horror of horrors, the worst thing that can happen to disrupt a comfortable flight in first class occured: An unhappy child with a piercingly high-pitched screech sat a row in front of us, off to the side.

It's a good thing that our flight attendants were lovely and attentive women. Jo and Marcie treated us the way first-class passengers should be treated.

The meals are pretty good, created by Chef Chai Chaowasaree, owner of Singha Thai Cuisine in Waikiki:

Craig's Appetizer (Bleu, Smoky Gruyere and Manchego Cheeses,
Green Grapes, Dried Star Fruit, Taro Bun with Sweet Potato Butter)

 
Craig's Entree (Stuffed Chicken Wings, Asian Style Rice Pilaf,
Carrots, Broccolini with Sweet Chili Sauce)
Dessert (Pineapple Ice Cream with White Chocolate Shell and
Raspberry Cream, Strawberry Sherbet Surprise inside)
Whenever possible, I will take an upgraded first-class seat over economy. I probably won't book it directly because of the cost, but the upgrade is considerably less (although you take your chances that one will be available 24-hours before take-off).
