Bird Mystery Solved

Thanks to my friend Rebecca, who did some Google searching and found a similar-looking bird (albeit with different feather coloring), the “mystery bird” has been identified as a Common Waxbill (Estrilda Astrild), aka St. Helena Waxbill.

I followed up with her tentative identification and found a website that pictures the waxbill in all its color variations. Voila! There it was.
