Last night, as is our usual practice, the wife and I stood
on our second-floor lanai and watched the fireworks being launched from Magic
Island, just outside of Waikiki.
It’s our little way of paying homage to the annual birthday
of our United States of America on July 4. Sometimes we watch it from someone
else’s home, often times, it’s from our upstairs lanai.
As usual, the aerials were stirring and heart-thumping, but
what they really did was serve to remind me that this is America, that this is
our land of freedom, that the celebration should truly be joyous and
heart-felt.
And it was, and it always will be.
