Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)

All righty. Well, this “Museum” sequel is just so darned funny – I laughed and laughed and laughed during practically the entire movie.

And Amy Adams is just so cute with her short and curly Amelia Earhart hair.

The movie presumes you’ve seen the original film, and takes up a few years (I think it was three) after Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) left to make his millions promoting and selling “must-have” items like the glow-in-the-dark flashlight (shades of Ron Popeil).

A bunch of the exhibits are being replaced by interactive holograms and are being shipped off for storage at the Smithsonian in DC. That magic Egyptian tablet that brings exhibits to life at night goes along with them ‘cause that darned Capuchin monkey swiped it.

Did I mention Amy Adams is cute in this picture?

Egyptian pharaoh Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria) steals every scene he’s in. The nefariously horrid brother of pharaoh Ankmenrah, Azaria speaks with an uproariously funny Boris Karloff accent, punctuated by a horrible lisp.

I don’t care if your momma warned you never to make fun of other people’s speech impediments, this will have you chuckling throughout.

The story is really simple. Daley goes to DC when he gets a distress call from Jedediah (Owen Wilson), the mini-cowboy.

He meets Amelia Earhart when (of course) the exhibits come to life at night. And lawdy, is Amy Adams cute in that curly hairdo.

Kahmunrah recruits Ivan the Terrible, Napoleon, and Al Capone to do his dirty work. I’ll let you discover how his own men are taken out of the picture. Everybody and everything else is on the good guys’ side.

There are chases galore that should keep the kids in the audience howling with laughter, and the adults trying hard not to wet their pants.

Go see the movie. It’s fun, it’s entertaining, and Amy Adams is cute. What more can you ask?

Okay, so did you really like the movie or did just Amy Adams' cuteness sway your opinion?
